The Relationship Between Spiritual Wellbeing With Anxiety Sensitivity in Elderly Women Referred to the Health Centers of Ashtian City

Background: Due to the increasing number of elderly women with anxiety sensitivity, attention to this dimension in this group of vulnerable people is of particular importance. Enjoying spiritual wellbeing promotes the mental health of the elderly, especially women. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between spiritual wellbeing and anxiety sensitivity of elderly women referring to health centers in Ashtian. Method: This study was a descriptive correlation. The population of this study included all elderly women referring to urban and rural health centers in Ashtian. The research sample was 160 people who were selected by continuous sampling for the study. Demographic profile form, spiritual wellbeing tool and anxiety sensitivity tool were used to collect information. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics under SPSS-16. Results: The overall score of spiritual wellbeing among the elderly women was 96.1 96 19.86. The overall score of anxiety sensitivity in elderly women was 48.25 31 31.93. In general, spiritual wellbeing was associated with anxiety sensitivity in older women (P <0.001 and r = -0.734). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between spiritual wellbeing and anxiety sensitivity, so that with increasing spiritual wellbeing in women, their anxiety sensitivity decreases. The results can be used to confirm that attention to spiritual wellbeing is necessary to reduce the level of anxiety sensitivity in older women.
